To the Archbishops, the Bishops, Clergy, Religious, and all the Faithful of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church,
Dear beloved in Christ,
Prayerful greetings from the Vatican, Rome!
As you may be aware, our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, is undergoing surgery tomorrow at the Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli (Gemelli Hospital) in Rome to remove a small, localized nodule in his lung.
As I am attending the plenary assembly in Rome, which was convoked by Pope Leo XIV himself, along with all the Patriarchs, Cardinals, Priests, and religious, I am praying for the speedy recovery of His Holiness.
I request all eparchies, parishes, religious houses, convents, and faithful of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church to set aside dedicated time for special prayers and intercessions. I particularly recommend that special prayers for the Holy Father to be offered during Holy Qurbono and in the daily prayers of all our parishes and institutions in the days ahead.
“The Lord sustains them on their sickbed; in their illness you heal all their infirmities.” (Psalm 41:3)
